There are many ways to support spelling at home that can be fun too.
Remember that the discussion about each word is just as valuable as the actual practise. You could discuss if the word is spelt the way it sounds or if there is a 'trick' in the word, like the y says 'i' (fly). In class we put words that don't sound the way they are spelt (rule breakers) into jail. How many words can you find that could be sent to jail?
Try some of these ideas at home.

Write the letters of the alphabet onto a xylophone, and sing the song of the word.
Put alphabet stickers onto spring loaded toy cars and line up the cars in a spelling car park and then spell out the word as the cars are released. These cars were from Kmart with 18 in a pack, I got three.

Spell your words with magazine letters.
Use scrabble tiles to spell your words then you could take photos of your words.
Put paint in a zip lock bag and spell the words with magic writing. Use your finger to write the words, watch the letters disappear. Just be careful not to get a hole in the bag. I also put glue along the zip lock track and sticky taped the end.
Look up the meaning in a dictionary or find a synonym in a thesaurus. Having a dictionary appropriate for your child's reading is beneficial.

A+ Spelling Test is an app available for iPad that allows children to independently practise spelling lists. They voice record each word and type in the spelling. There is a practise mode, unscramble mode and a test mode.

Try typing the words into a word cloud. Tagul.com is a free site that does require a login but is fairly user friendly.
